Sofa Shopping

I changed things up around here again. New dragon pic, new front page pic, and for now I'm keeping the musical teddy bear. If it really bothers any of you, just let me know. Right now it's playing the Marilyn Manson version of This Is Halloween.

Yesterday we did some more errands. It began with a horrible trip to Kohls that has left me never wanting to shop there again.

We really need a new sofa. Ours is threadbare and pretty much falling apart. We want to get a regular sofa and not a sofa bed, but sometimes my Mom stays over and we don't want to force her to sleep on the couch. So, we decided to get one of those AeroBeds. Not only can my Mom use it when she stays over (and it will probably be more comfortable than the sofa bed was) but Rob and I can use it if Gabriel is sick and one of us wants to camp out in his room for the night. So, we went to Kohls to get one because they were having a sale and because Rob gets an employee discount.

I ended up getting a twin AeroBed that was supposedly on sale for $129 instead of $139 and a set of sheets for it that were supposedly on sale for $14 instead of $29. We took the items to check out and Rob showed his employee ID for his discount. The only way we could get the discount was by paying cash (and neither of us had that much cash on hand) or by check (I only use checks for bills). So, even while using my debit card (which, in my opinion, is better than a check because a check can bounce) we were denied the employee discount.

Later on, I looked the receipt over and noticed they screwed me over in another way! The bed was $139 and the sheets were $29. They didn't honor the sale prices that were advertised right next to the items!!!

I am never again shopping at Kohl's. They didn't honor the employee discount and didn't honor the posted sale priced. Screw that. I don't care if Rob does work for corporate, they're not the type of store that will ever again be getting my business unless I'm refunded the money for the difference between what they charged me and the sale price AND the employee discount.

So, after that we headed to Steinhafel's and had much better luck there. The sales associate we worked with rocked and seemed to be in awe of Gabriel's adorableness and we made sure to get her card to use her again down the road when we need more furniture. We found a sofa that we loved, the only problem was that it was out of stock. Not a big, we can use ours for another month or so if need be. So, we got the sofa and will be contacted when it's in stock and will work on setting up the delivery date then. It's a great looking and very comfortable leather sofa.

We then headed back home for a bit and then went back out to grab ice cream and dinner. We brought Long John Silver's back home for dinner. There was nothing on TV, so we did some gaming.

Today it's back to playing with Gabriel and doing some job hunting.
