I'm tired as all hell today, but last weekend absolutely rocked. I really need to find a way to get out to my Mom's house more often. I can't wait until she moves out here.

Rob had a half day on Thursday and so we were able to head out of our place around 3pm. The drive out to my Mom's place was thankfully uneventful. We got to her place around 6:15pm and she watched Gabriel while we unpacked. She had cooked chili for dinner (my Mom's chili is the best) and we ate and then headed upstairs to watch some TV. We watched So You Think You Can Dance and Fear Itself. Once Gabriel fell asleep we went downstairs to watch some more TV before bed.

On Friday we made a run to Wal*Mart and then headed out to the mall in Dubuque. My Mom bought Gabriel some books at Borders and then we wandered around half of the mall. We found that a kid's play place had just opened up inside of the mall and we took Gabriel there. He absolutely loved it. Everything was made out of this neat stuff that looked like hard plastic, but was actually somewhat soft so that the kids didn't get hurt while playing. The carpet was super cool and was all bouncy and very nice to walk on. Gabriel seemed to like the helicoptor (maybe he wanted to find Lisa?) and the celery slide the best. Eventually we headed out of the mall and went to dinner at House of China. Gabriel was amazingly well behaved throughout dinner, though it probably didn't hurt that his favorite foods (chicken nuggets and fries) were on the kids menu. After dinner we headed back to my Mom's place.

On Saturday we headed back to the mall so that Gabriel could have some more time in the play place. My Mom watched him and Rob and I checked out the other half of the mall. We picked up a b-day card for Donna, a pluffie giraffe for Gabriel, Rob got some new work shoes, and we got a few clothing items for Gabriel at Baby Gap (two pairs of khaki shorts, a t-shirt with a T-Rex on it, and a Star Wars t-shirt). After the mall we headed to dinner. We went to a burger joint in downtown Galena called Durty Gurtz. They have some great food. Once again, Gabriel was well behaved. There were a few spastic incidents, but that's to be expected with a 2 year old. We then went back to my Mom's house and I was happy that we randomly found Cursed playing on TV.

Sunday we chilled out around my Mom's house watching Bizarre Foods and then got ready to head out. Before we left Gabriel did nothing other than cuddle my Mom. I think he wanted to get as many cuddlies in as possible. We headed out of my Mom's place around 3pm. On the way back home, we stopped off at Blackhawk Meats in Beloit and got some bratwurst to make for dinner. On Saturday, we had gone to my Mom's local grocery store and got beer, an onion, and buns. We got back home around 6:30pm and unpacked and then started cooking dinner. Mmmmm. Beer and onion boiled brats. So yummy!

Today it's back to normal. Rob's at work and I'm at home with the Poopchuck. The weather is nasty out and I hope it clears up soon because I need to take my car out tonight and make a run to the grocery store. We didn't have the time to get the shopping done when we got back last night.
