2008-08-04 11:58 AM Sick, Rob's Dead Car, & Dead Dryer Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Meh Read/Post Comments (6) Things haven't been great around here recently. Murphy's Law has struck again and everything is going insane. First of all, I'm sick and I don't know what the hell I'm sick with. I have a low grade fever that comes and goes, I'm exhausted beyond belief (no matter how much sleep I get), I'm dizzy (bad when sitting, horrible when standing), I keep almost passing out, pretty much my whole body is having muscle aches, I'm getting very disoriented at times, and my neck is killing me. I have no freakin' clue what is wrong with me, and it's not getting much better. I spent the weekend getting as much rest as was possible, hoping that whatever I have would be gone by Monday morning. No such luck and I still feel like complete ass today. Friday after Rob got out of work I got a call from him. His car wouldn't start. He got the car jumped, drove around for a bit, and came home. Saturday morning it was dead again. We decided to wait until this morning to jump it so that he could take it to the dealer and have it checked out. AAA came this morning, jumped him, and he took it to the dealer. Just as he got there it died and couldn't be started. At first glance, they think there's a problem both with his battery and with his crappy after market alarm. He took the dealer's shuttle into work and we're hoping the car will be ready by the time he's done with work. You would think my being sick and Rob having a dead car would be enough hassle, right? Wrong. Now our clothes dryer is having issues. It won't dry anything. It's tumbling and it's hot, but the clothes won't dry and when I open it steam shoots out into my face. It started heating up real bad and smelling like burning, so I now have it off because I don't want to start a dryer fire. I've got a load of wet towels in the dryer and 4+ more loads that NEED to get done. I called G and told her the problem. She called the guy who does the washer/dryer repair around here. He said it was a problem with the vent, and he doesn't do vents. She said that she doesn't know of anyone who does vents, and that the building has no one for that. So, her advice (you're gonna love this) was the following: either Rob or I can go on the roof of the building and try to clean it out (with what tools???) or we can just put up a line and dry things that way from now on. Having to watch Gabriel all day means I can't make a laundromat run. So... it looks like we'll be air drying everything from now on. *sigh* I'm going to give this a few days, and then call the owner of the building and let her know that with a 2 year old around her and lots of laundry I find it unacceptable that we have to line dry everything and don't have a working dryer. If something's not done, I'm sorely tempted to take legal action as if they breached our lease and get the hell out of here. Or have it fixed at our expense and take it off the rent. We'll see. This is ridiculous. What the hell am I going to do with a load of soaking wet towels that need to be used for bathing tonight??? ----------
