Thursday, October 30

Thursday we headed back out to my Mom's place. We stopped at McDonald's for lunch and Gabriel was well behaved again. We got to her place around 3:30pm and chilled out around the house until it was time for dinner.

We headed out to dinner in downtown Galena. We went to Dirty Gurtz burger joint. They have really good burgers. Gabriel was well behaved, but refused to eat anything.

Friday, October 31

During the day we slept in and hung out around the house. Before it was time to head out, we put Gabriel into his halloween costume (kangaroo) and I attached some Woochie horns onto my head with spirit gum.

We decided to get dinner before going trick or treating with Gabriel. We went to the Log Cabin and Gabriel was generally well behaved with a few fussy moments. Dinner was great and when we were done it was time for trick or treating.

We went to the main area that we know is best for trick or treating and walked Gabriel around. He had a blast, however, he kept thinking that when he took some candy from someone, that he should give one of what he already had to them as a trade. It was sweet of him and most people were endeared by his gesture. Everyone let him keep his candy though. There were a lot of compliments on how cute the kangaroo costume looked.

After about an hour of trick or treating, Gabriel got too tired to walk. So we headed to another area that had some trick or treating and pushed him in his stroller for the rest of the night. Trick or treating was from 5:30 to 7:30pm. We ended up stopping around 7pm.

When we were done trick or treating, we made a quick Wal*Mart run. I needed some rubbing alcohol wipes so I could get the horns and spirit gum residue off of my head. We then headed to Culver's and got some ice cream. I got a root beer float.

We then went home for the night and Gabriel got to start in on eating his candy (there's still plenty left for him even today).

Saturday, November 1

We got Gabriel dressed and ready for a Halloween party at the Galena territory owner's club. He was back in his kangaroo costume and loving it. The party started at 1pm.

All in all, Gabriel was bored and the party was rather lame. He wasn't interested in the craft tables but he did like the cookies and punch. Most of the things in the goodie bag were either too old for him or made in china. While there were other kids there that were his age (and younger), the party seemed a bit too old for him. We headed out around 2:15pm.

We went back to my Mom's place and changed him back into jeans and a shirt. After chilling out around the hosue for a bit, we headed into Dubuque to go to the House of China for dinner.

Tonight was the night of the Galena Halloween parade, but we decided to skip it this year. We went two years ago and were able to hold Gabriel the entire time. We went last year and found a parking spot on the parade route and Gabriel liked to watch it from the car. But this year, we knew he wouldn't want to stand still for it and he wouldn't want to be strapped in his car seat in a parked car for 3 hours. So, we decided to stay out of Galena and went to dinner in Dubuque.

Dinner was a nightmare. Gabriel freaked out and kept screaming at the top of his lungs the entire time. Rob took him out and over to a card store, but that didn't help because he was stuck in line behind a bitch who didn't like her balloon arrangement. The clerck offered to check him out quickly and the woman freaked saying she was there first (even though Rob was having to deal with a screaming toddler). He got Gabriel some multi colored squirty animal party favors that Gabriel wanted, but when he came back to the restaurant it only quieted him down for a minute.

We headed back home after dinner and watched some TV.

Sunday, November 2

We got ready and headed out of my Mom's place. The drive home was rather uneventful. We stopped off at the grocery store to pick up something to make for dinner and ended up getting home around 4:30pm.

When we got home, we unpacked and made dinner (taco salad). We watched the Amazing Race and thought it was odd when we heard a helicoptor outside. Rob headed out to check and see what happened when we saw it was a medical helicoptor.

Come to find out, a motorcyclist had wiped out in the rain on the main road just next to the street we live on. Rob saw them trying to work on him, but said it looked like he didn't make it. Come to find out, he didn't. The street out there was closed for most of the night and no one could enter or leave our area.

Monday, November 3 (today)

Rob's back to work and I have a feeling he's buried under all the work that piled up when he was gone. Gabriel's a spaz and I'm back to checking job websites in the hope of finding a job and taking care of Gabriel and playing with him. In other words, the vacay was great, but we're back to the same old same old.

I miss my Mom.

You Are 30% Hyper
You aren't exactly hyper, but no one would accuse you of being lazy either.
You have enough drive to get everything done - with energy to spare.

You don't get overly worked up or rushed. You'll happily take your time.
And you definitely enjoy your down time. You can only be hyper for so long.

Unlike more hyper types, you don't have a ton of interests and friends.
You prefer concentrating on what matters to spreading yourself too thin.
