Yesterday I dropped Sydney off at the vet's office. I dropped him off around 8am and he was ready to be picked up around 1pm. They took his urine sample and a blood sample. His urine sample was just a tad off. They're going to wait on the blood sample before deciding what he needs. From the looks of it, we're catching the kidney problem just as it's starting. So, he probably won't need meds, but he might need a special k/d prescription diet. I'll wait and see what the vet says when she calls be back with the updated blood work results.

Gabriel also had a doctors appointment yesterday with a urologist. It was to have a cyst on his penis looked at. The doctor looked at it, said it was a cyst that was a sweat gland which had gotten plugged up and filled with stuff, and that it should be removed. He also noticed another problem with his penis. Gabriel is not circumcized. Both Rob and I saw no need to circumsize a boy if there was no medical reason for it. Well, there is a medical reason for it now. His foreskin is too tight and small for his penis and can't be pulled back over the head fully. His pediatrician never tried to pull the foreskin back and neither Rob nor myself noticed that this was abnormal for someone of his age (what the hell do I know about how a 3 year old's penis should look). There's no infection there now, which shows just how clean we keep Gabriel, but the doctor said that down the road it could get infected under there. He also said that down the road it could get so tight that it cut off circulation to the head of the penis. So, he needs a circumcision as well. While the removal of the cyst and the circimcision aren't large operations by themselves, he will need to be put under general anesthesia which is what has me worried. Right now, we need to make the appointment for the surgery and see if we'll be having it at Waukesha Memorial or Children's Hospital.

Yesterday afternoon we visited my Nana at her new place in a nursing home called Waukesha Springs. She's in the rehab wing so that she can learn to use her walker once more. She was really out of it yesterday (either from being tired from physical therapy or from meds). But we spent a little over an hour there.

Rob was gone all day yesterday. He left around 7am and didn't get back home until after 9pm. So, Mom, Gabriel, and I did our own thing for dinner. We grabbed dinner from Gyros West and watched Survivor at night while I did up four loads of laundry.

This morning at 10am I had my own doctor's appointment to check my blood pressure and see how the meds had been doing. While I have had readings as high as 180/100 (when I was in the ER a few months ago), my last reading was 145/93. Too high. So, I was put on a calcium channel blocker which I was told should lower my BP, make my palpitations less, and possibly get rid of my migraines. Well, it has made my palpitations less, but it also makes me dizzy. And I'm having just as many (if not more) bad headaches and migraines than I did before. So, I went in for a recheck and was 140/83. He wasn't too worried about the top number since I'm under a lot of stress, but he did like that the bottom number was lower. He'd like to see it under 80 down the road.

I'll be going in again as soon as they have the H1N1 shot in and then I'll be having a re-check of everything that's wrong with me in about four months.

Mom stayed at the apartment until around noonish and then she headed out to see my Nana before heading back home. I miss her already. But, at least the weekend is coming up so I'll be able to spend some time with my Rob.
