2009-12-30 2:12 PM Tamale Trouble Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: So-So Read/Post Comments (0) There is a very good chance that this will be my final entry of 2009. Perhaps I'll be able to make another entry tonight or even tomorrow morning, but I kind of doubt it. So, if you don't hear from me again until 2010, HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!! So, yesterday I was making lunch (Hormel Tamales*) and had a bit of an accident. My carpel tunnel acted up and... I dropped the plate. Tamales and sauce were everywhere (and somehow the plate didn't break). That was NOT fun to clean up. It was all over the counter, the stove, down the front of the cabinets, down the front of the stove, all over the floor, and in nooks and crannies I didn't even know we had. It was a nightmare to clean it up and hurt my bad knee to get down there and scrub, but I did it. No thanks to Gabriel who used that time to do everything he shouldn't be doing. *sigh* I was introduced to those tamales when I was in high school. They used to come in a glass jar and now they come in a can. Personally, I think they tasted better from the jar. I can always taste the metal in anything that comes in a can. My dad used to eat them and I got hooked as well. Most people think they're pretty nasty, but I love them. In my mouth, not on the floor. * Yes, I know Hormel Tamales aren't real tamales. As someone who loves Mexican food and has had the privelege of going to real Mexican restaurants owned and operated by people of Mexican heritage back when I lived in Los Angeles, I am well aware of what a real tamale is. Just like Chef Boyardee isn't italian food, Hormel tamales aren't even close to real tamales. That being said, damn they're tasty, even if the can is more nutritious than the food that's inside of it. ----------
