I'm feeling much better now and the food poisoning has passed. I think I might be coming down with the same cold that Rob has, but so far it's nothing major and is only a sore throat and a runny nose. That, I can deal with.

Last weekend we headed out to my Mom's place and had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. So, here's the re-cap.

Thursday, April 1

Rob had to be at work in the morning and then took the afternoon off. Once he got home we packed, took my car out for a long drive, and got ready to head out. We got out of the house around 3pm. The drive out to my Mom's place was rather uneventful and we only made a stop off at a gas station to use the bathroom when we were about halfway there.

We got to her place a little after 6pm. We unpacked, changed into around the house clothes, and ordered in pizza from Happy Joe's. We hung out around the house and watched Survivor. We also watched Seed of Chucky on a cool horror movie channel she has (Chiller) on Direct TV. I wish we had that channel.

Friday, April 2

I slept in (a lot) on Friday morning. It was rather nice. Once I was up and showered and ready to go, we all headed out. My Mom needed to make a stop at the post office and then we headed into Dubuque.

By the time we got out there, the weather was nasty. It was pouring out and super windy. Rob and I made a run into the mall and picked up some clothing for Gabriel at Baby Gap and some lotion for me at Bath and Body Works. We then ran back out to the car where my Mom and a sleeping Gabriel were waiting. Running from the car to the mall and vice versa had us soaked each time.

Mom then had to make a run into Lowe's for a new fridge filter and the rest of us waited in the car.

We headed to House of China for dinner and Gabriel was perfectly well behaved the entire time. Lee was impressed that he's only 4 and is already reading at a first grade level.

After dinner we headed back to Galena and made a stop in the Walmart there. Rob needed a new hair brush and we grabbed some other things as well, including a pair of Spiderman sneakers that Gabriel really wanted.

After Walmart we headed back to my Mom's place and chilled out. Nick Jr. (formerly Noggin) was on the TV until Gabriel went to sleep that then we watched part of The Mangler 2 before going to bed.

Saturday, April 3

We actually got up at a decent time this morning and once we were all ready and showered, it was time for Gabriel's easter egg hunt. He got to find eggs all over my Mom's house that were filled with candy. He loved it. After the hunt we headed out to lunch at McDonalds and then headed back to Dubuque.

This time we made a run into Border's to get Gabriel some new books. We also all made a run into Lowe's so my Mom could get a power strip and so we could get a new toilet seat. The one in the main bathroom is kind of broken. We also headed to an Old Navy and got Gabriel a few more pairs of shorts for this summer.

When we were done in Dubuque, we headed back to Galena and had dinner at Durty Gurtz. Gabriel was asleep the entire time. After dinner we headed back to my Mom's place, did some laundry, and watched more Nick Jr. with Gabriel.

Sunday, April 4

We got up, showered, got ready, and headed out of my Mom's place around noon. The drive home was nice and we stopped off at a McDonalds / gas station combo for use of the bathrooms and to fill Rob's car up with gas. Gabriel was hungry, so we got him some nuggets there as well.

When we got home, the first thing we did was try to start my car. Thankfully, it started. We drove it around for about an hour and then did our main weekly Pick N Save grocery shop.

When we got back home we unpacked and got the mail and didn't want to head out again, so we ordered in dinner from a Chinese place called Feng's Kitchen. The food was horrible and we won't be ordering in from there again.

We watched The Amazing Race and The Celebrity Apprentice while washing up the sheets and towels. When Gabriel went to bed, so did we. We also gave Gabriel his main easter basket. It's a Godiva basket with a stuffed bunny and a whole lot of Godiva chocolate stuff in it. He loved it.

Monday, April 5 (today)

Today we're back to the same old things we do every week. Rob's back at work and I'm at home with Gabriel. I'm doing up our laundry and looking for a job. So far, I've heard back from all of my recent applications and didn't even make it to an interview stage for any of them. Some time, this ecomony has to turn around and some time I have to be able to find something. Right? I really hope I didn't go through law school and two state bars for nothing. Though I will say if I was ten years younger, I'd be going to med school. I think I missed my calling there.
