Dryer Problems - Again

Okay, so as you all probably know, about a month ago or so we were having problems with our dryer. It wasn't getting the clothes dry and when it was opened mid-cycle steam came out. This happened before and I knew what it was. The outside of the vent was clogged and the dryer vent itself needed to be snaked. We called our manager and he said he would take care of it.

He had someone clean the buildup on the outside of the vent and he sent a dryer repairman. The repairman took apart the dryer and said that nothing was wrong with it, it was a clog in the vent and that needed to be snaked out. No one was ever sent to do that.

Now, it's having problems again. Once again the outside of the vent is clogged because no one ever came to snake the entire vent. The fire department recommends having your dryer vent snaked out every year as a fire safety precaution. Right when we moved in to this apartment back in early 2007, it was done. It's now been three years and no one has done it since.

So, not only does our unit and every other one in our complex have a fire safety issue going on from their not snaking all of the vents, but our dryer isn't working. Again. I currently have all of Gabriel's laundry hanging on our railings to dry.

This is insane. Rob's going to call the manager again today to let him know the problem is still going on because he never sent anyone to snake the vent. It's a good thing he's calling because I'm in uber-bitch mode right now. I mean really, how hard is it to snake our vent when asked? Or, for that matter, to snake everyone's once a year as a fire safety precaution? Sheesh.

If this isn't fixed by mid-next week I'm calling the owner and complaining about this and about the manager. This is really pissing me off.

I can't wait until we can afford to buy a house. Sure, we'll have to pay out of pocket for problems like this, but as responsible adults we'll have our vents snaked out yearly like they're supposed to be and won't have problems like this. Besides, when we own the place we can call someone and get the problem solved immediatly and without the middleman.
