Pre-School Possibilities

So, we've been doing some looking for the right pre-school for Gabriel. One of them was too stuffy for us (the kids, even at 4 years old, need to wear a button up shirt and slacks - and the fact that Gabriel ate his Froot Loops for his art project made that place less than happy) and some of the others would bore him. I understand why most pre-schools teach things like letters, numbers, color, shapes, animals, etc., but Gabriel already knows all of that. Hell, he can read. What he needs is a place to get social skills with other kids. A place that won't mind that he's a bit of a spaz and that sometimes he still goes poopy in his pull up. A place that has art time and teaches kids arts and crafts, drawing, and how to write. That's what we're looking for and today, I think we found it.

This afternoon we all had a tour of our local Kindercare. It's rather impressive, they have their teachers certified there (which most pre-schools don't) and are even NAEYC accredited. We spoke with their liason and then Gabriel got to see the pre-K room while the kids were napping. He even got to see the outside playset. We really liked it and so did he. It's expensive, like most pre-schools are, but in the end is less that daycare at Rob's place of business would be. Gabriel really wants to go there. We have a coupon for a free day so we can make sure he likes it, but I think we've found our pre-school for him. Chances are he'll start off as part time and then go to full time once I find a job.

Holy crap, it's windy out right now. We're even under a wind advisory.
