Last weekend Rob and Gabriel went out to the mail boxes to get the mail. Now, let me preface this by saying that Gabriel loves bugs. All bugs. He freaks out if we kill a bug or flush one down the toilet. If he sees a bug, he wants to play with it. I don't know why, maybe it's a boy thing.

Anyway, under mailbox B (in the area where the newspaper gets delivered) was a small wasp's nest. Gabriel wanted to pet the wasps and stuck his hand on the wasp's nest. Rob saw this and pulled his hand out. When he did so there were four or five wasps on Gabriel's hand. Rob tried to shoo them off, but not before Gabriel got stung. I'm deathly allergic to both bee and wasp stings and we didn't yet know if Gabriel was allergic to either. Gabriel started freaking out and crying and Rob immediately brought him back into the house.

We kept an eye on Gabriel's throat for any sign of swelling and kept listening to his breathing for any sign of wheezing. Luckily, there was none and he doesn't seem to be allergic to wasps.

The index finger on his right hand was red and swollen and painful. I found four different points of swelling, which meant he had taken four stings in that one tiny finger. We first checked for the stingers, but couldn't find any. Good. That means that it had stung him, but the singer hadn't broken off. We then iced his finger and slathered it with Benadryl cream. We couldn't give him any children's Benadryl because it's not allowed for children under 6 (and he may be 4, but he doesn't even have the weight for a typical 4 year old, he's much skinnier and lighter than that). He asked for a Band Aid and so we let him have a Sesame Street one.

We called the doctor's office and they said we did everything right. Check for stingers, ice, and Benadryl cream. Since he didn't have any swelling in his neck or wheezing, we didn't need to take him into the ER.

We kept alternating for the rest of the night between an ice pack and Benadryl cream. The next day, it was much better. As of today, there's only a slight hint of red and all of the swelling is gone.

I tried to tell him that some bugs are naughty and that wasps are one of them, but he denied it. Apparently, even after all that, he still likes wasps. *sigh*

Flats!

You're a pair of classy flats! You're pretty high-class and like to maintain a good image for others. You sometimes have an attitude, but it's not un-cope-able. Everyone likes the fact how you aren't slutty and can work with anyone.

What Kind of Shoe Are You?
