2010-12-15 1:18 PM Weekend At Mom's Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Sick Read/Post Comments (1) So, last weekend Rob used some of his last free days and took off from work and we decided to head to my Mom's place. It was fun, but things did not go as expected. Thursday: We packed in the morning, took my car out for a drive so that it would hopefully start when we got back home, and headed out to my Mom's place. We stopped for lunch at McDonalds and it started snowing lightly when we were around the halfway point. The visibility wasn't too bad, but the roads were slippery. Still, we made decent time getting out there. We headed out to town for dinner. Mexican food at Los Aztecas. It was really good and even though Gabriel asked for a taco, he didn't eat it. After dinner we headed back to my Mom's place and watched the finale of The Apprentice. I was rooting for Clint and he didn't win, so, meh. This was the day when my sickies changed from being a head cold to being a chest cold. Friday: We headed out to Walmart for some cold medicine and other stuff. Gabriel used some money he had earned to buy himself a Bakugan toy. After Walmart we headed to the mall in Dubuque. We wanted to find snow pants for Gabriel, but they were sold out in his size. I'll need to check online at some point for those I guess. Gabriel was able to see Santa and this year he had no problems with him. He sat on Santa's lap, told him what he wanted for Xmas (a Penbo), and we even got pics taken with Santa. He was very happy about being able to see Santa. After the mall, we headed out and had dinner at House of China. As always, their food was amazing. Gabriel had his own meal that we had picked up earlier from Long John Silvers. This kid LOVES their food. With the crack batter they use, who can blame him? After dinner we headed back to my Mom's house for the night. Saturday: Snow had come in and was falling fairly heavily. It wasn't quite a blizzard and we weren't quite snowed in, but the roads were fairly bad. Still, we ventured out to Walmart to get some more vaporizer pads so that I could breathe at night. Since we were out anyway, we grabbed burgers from Durty Gurtz for dinner. Rob was the one driving and he did amazingly well on the snowy roads. Some days, having an SUV is a great thing. Saturday night we spent around my Mom's place. Sunday: The weather where we were was snowy, but not too bad, but the weather on the way home and where we were going was horrible. Blizzard conditions hit about halfway home and our area was in a complete white out. One of the freeways we take to get home was even closed. Realizing that there was no way to safely get home in that storm, we spent an extra day at my Mom's place. We spent the day inside, which was good, because the sickies were hitting me hard. I was dizzy, out of it, my voice was gone, and I was not in a good way. So, we spent the day around the house. Monday: The weather was clear both in Galena and at home, so we were able to get back home. The roads were snowy and icy in some places, so we took it slow when needed, but we made it home just fine. My car actually started, so I took it for a run to make sure the battery got charged up. I felt like ass, had no voice, and the chest cold was quickly becoming bronchitis, so we skipped our normal errands including the grocery store run and decided to make do with what we had around the house for this week. We ordered in dinner and I went to bed early. Tuesday: Gabriel was in pre-school, which was a very good thing because I was sick as hell. Laryngitis, bronchitis, dizzy, and out of it. Ugh. When I picked him up from pre-school he was very good for me and understood that I was sick before Rob got home from work. Wednesday (today): Rob's working from home and while I have a bit of a voice, it hurts to talk. Still feel horrible (dizzy, tired, etc.) and still having breathing problems from the bronchitis. I had to cancel a doctor's appointment for tomorrow since the blood work wouldn't be accurate due to my sickies and re-scheduled it for next week. Hopefully, I'll be better by then.
