End of the Bathtub Saga (Hopefully)

So, one of the maintenance guys (yes, one of the ones who screwed things up the first time around) came over today and repaired the hole in the tiles around our tub. The good news is that it's fixed, it looks good, and hopefully our tub saga is now over and done with.

The bad news is that it was repaired in the dumbest way possible. It was simply re-tiled. You see, the plumber specifically put in valves so that if we ever have tub problems again, we can just shut off the water to the tub and not have to turn the water off to the whole apartment. The plumber said if they put a removable panel in there, that we could just pop it off when needed and access the valves.

So, is there a panel there? Of course not.

Rob and I both spoke with the manager about this and Rob spoke with the maintenance guy and they ignored the panel idea and just re-tiled things the way they were before. They told us if we need to reach the valves, we can just cut or smash through it again.

I believe the maintenance guy told Rob if there was a problem to just "smash through with a hammer" and that if it needed to be repaired again that would be fine because it would "keep him in work". Sigh.

Whatever, it's a rental apartment, so in the end, this is all up to the manager and not to us.
