2011-06-18 1:35 PM Sewer Problems Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Ew Read/Post Comments (0) So, this morning we got a call from our apartment manager telling us not to use the water at all because it had nowhere to drain. Seems something was wrong with the sewer line and raw sewage was backing up into the first floor apartments and soaking their carpet. A few hours later, the RotoRooter guys had found the problem (we were worried it was a cracked sewer pipe or something like that from the construction that's been going on)... tampons. A whole group of tampons had clustered together in the sewer so that nothing could pass. Ew. Either Godzilla lives in the area and is on her period, almost every woman living in the area is on her period at the same time, or some freak flushed a ton of tampons down at once. Either way, it's supposedly fixed now. The RotoRooter guy made the comment that he's not paid enough to be fishing tampons out of the sewers on a Saturday morning. He's probably right. I believe the people in the lower apartments will be offered a hotel so that their carpets can be torn out and replaced. We're not because nothing backed up in here and supposedly we can use the water again. Hopefully, this is the end of the nasty sewer drama.
