Adventures in Hair Dye

So, a few months back I decided to have some streaks put in my hair. There were a dark blonde / light brown and while they looked cool, I wanted something with more contrast. Something that would pop. So, I decided on putting in violet black streaks. Mistake. Big mistake.

When I came out of the salon, it looked awesome (though in washing it the dye made part of my hair purple, a light soap cap took that right out). When I washed it, it bled. Badly. To the point where the rest of my hair (which is blonde) turned gray and purple. It was bad. So, I called the salon up and was able to get in ASAP with K. Until then, I wore my hair in a ponytail. It wasn't so bad that way.

So, yesterday we did two soap caps. A light one on the blonde (which is now blonde once more) and a heavy one on the black (which could only be brought up to a dark red/brown color).

Not liking the dark brown streaks, we put more red over them. So now the streaks are a very dark red. It looks super neat in bright lights and the sun.

In the end, I'm very happy with the color and how everything turned out. Though I have to admit it was funny to have black, purple, and gray hair for a few days.

K said if this were to happen to anyone, she was glad it happened to me because I can laugh at it and take it in stride. Seems she has a lot of clients who would cry or flip out on her. I told her color can always be changed. The only time I've ever freaked about my hair was when I was 12 and the stylist gave me boy short hair when I asked for a chin length bob. Then I freaked out.

So, it's all back to normal and the way it turned out is even better than the way I had it originally.
