Kindergarten Registration and Pictures

Yesterday was the day where we had to head to school and finish up any registration for Kindergarten and get Gabriel's picture taken. Rob took a work from home day yesterday so he could go with us and Gabriel took the day off from preschool (he's there today instead).

I had already sent in all of the forms and finished his registration online, so they checked that and told us he was fine.

I don't like the fact that their picture day is at the beginning of the school year. It makes more sense to have it at the end of the year like Kindercare did. I also don't like that we have to choose our package (and pay for it) before ever even seeing how the pics turn out. What if they're crap? Ugh. They also only do a headshot - no poses like the one at Kindercare did. All in all, I was rather disappointed with the photo process at the public school.

On the bright side, if the pic turns out horrible there is a re-take day. Normally Gabriel is quite photogenic, but I think that this time we might need a re-take because he was super extra fidgety when the guy tried to take his pic.

We got a calendar for the school year while we were there (he has a ton of half days and days off - conveniently a block of them are around the time we take our usual vacation in October) and when we were done headed back home. Gabriel seems excited about starting Kindergarten, but I think he'll be sad about leaving Kindercare and all his friends behind.

My biggest worry about Kindergarten is that because their playground isn't fenced in, he'll just wander off and leave and no one will have any idea where he went off to. I mentioned this to the school and they didn't seem to believe me, but his preschool teacher said she would be worried about that as well. Even in their fenced in play area, if he's done playing he'll try to wander off and head into one of the classrooms.
