Grandma's Journal My Journal I became a Grandma at the age of 49 years old. Well I was actually only 17 days from being 50. My baby girl gave me gave me my first grandchild. He was a beautiful bouncy boy. Then 2 years later she surprised me on my birthday at 5am by waking me up and telling me "Happy Birthday Mom!" Time to get up we are going to the hospital and having a baby today! I told her NO that's tomorrow. It took a little bit for her to get it through my groggy head that she was going to be giving me a birthday present! and she totally did. She gave me a dark hair beautiful little grand daughter. Now I can enjoy spoiling 2. I have decided that the best thing in the world is being a Grandma! There is nothing that come close to that! I have been married for 30 years to a man that lives for his family. He only wants the best for all of us and spoils us all! He is a good man that works hard for his dollar. We have a pretty good marriage to say the least. Well it must be if we can put up with each others faults this long! My mom who has Alzehimers lives with us and has been for almost 3 years now. She is in the finally stages of the disease and still hangs in there. She loves to grab the broom and sweep. She does this everyday, and several times a day. I keeps her busy. She will even sweep the counch or the kitchen table if you let her. My oldest daughter is going to be 34 years old this year and hasn't lived at home in 16 years. I spend as must time as I can with her. But it is never enough. She plans on coming home to live and take care of us in 7 years. I cant wait! It's my dream to have her home. She is a dear friend to me and we have a great relationship. she always tells me that I am her best friend. |

Mood: Loved Read/Post Comments (0) I love Lighthouses, and I collect them. I added a beautiful homemade lighthouse quilt to my collection in November 2008. A friend of my oldest daughter made it for me, and she did a beautiful job. I will treasure it always. |
2009-03-10 7:34 PM Happy Day Today was a very good day. I got my preschooler at 8:00 and we did our preschool work for 2 hours...then visited next door and came home to do a few things around the house and Carson and Oscar played for 1/2 until Oscar went home.
Neil cooked raise dough waffel's for lunch for the family (my Mom, Amy, Bryan, Carson, DesiRay=she didn't eat any though and myself) yummy I don't get these vary often so I only had one...blood sugar high you might guess...so after everyone left, I took a nap! ahh that was so nice... Then up and ran to town to pay a bill. Paid one bill off and bought DesiRay's first Christmas present. Back home to dinner being cooked by Neil for the family. I love Tuesday's as this is usually Neil's night to cook! He cooked bq chicken, potatoes, mixed vegtables, homemade corn bread, and Amy made pudding dessert! I ate my special chicken he baked for me, and one slice of corn bread and some vegts. Had a good yummy dinner, and I am now stuffed...after the kids left, Neil and I cleaned the kitchen and put away the food, and did the dishes together! I sure do enjoy this time togethr every week. It has brought us closer together. Then it was my time to spend getting Mom ready for bed. This is a time that my Mom looks forward to (spending a little one on one time with me)... Mom has been back home now for 2 days, and we have had 2 great days. She has ate all of her meals and NOT complained one time! She complained a little bit this morning when I rearranged her dresser draw's...I decided it was time for me to take out all of her jewlery and non-medicine cont. that she has stored. She no longer knows what is use for or even gets in the drawer, so I decided to make things easier on me and put her sheets, and extra blankets in them. She got a little pissy that I didn't sweep after myself. I told her that she could get the broom out and sweep and I would mop. So that is what we did, and she was a Happy Camper again. I have come to the conclusion that it upsets Mom when she has to leave her SAFE HEAVAN! I think that is the reason she got upset at my sisters! So I think the best thing to do is find someone who wants to earn alittle extra money and have them come in here. It isn't hard to take care of mom. Now that my day is done, my husband is sleeping on the couch next to me, and I need to go start a load of laundry and try and make head way of some things downstairs. Not sure if I will blog tomorrow night, as I have a date with my hubby. Yes I am going to bag out of my Adult Girl Scout meeting and spend time with my husband. He is taking me to a movie and dinner since we have gift certificates that need to be used. So you all have a good night, and stay healthy and out of trouble. A special good night to my dear friend Cindy! Love you! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
