Grandma's Journal
My Journal

I became a Grandma at the age of 49 years old. Well I was actually only 17 days from being 50. My baby girl gave me gave me my first grandchild. He was a beautiful bouncy boy. Then 2 years later she surprised me on my birthday at 5am by waking me up and telling me "Happy Birthday Mom!" Time to get up we are going to the hospital and having a baby today! I told her NO that's tomorrow. It took a little bit for her to get it through my groggy head that she was going to be giving me a birthday present! and she totally did. She gave me a dark hair beautiful little grand daughter. Now I can enjoy spoiling 2. I have decided that the best thing in the world is being a Grandma! There is nothing that come close to that! I have been married for 30 years to a man that lives for his family. He only wants the best for all of us and spoils us all! He is a good man that works hard for his dollar. We have a pretty good marriage to say the least. Well it must be if we can put up with each others faults this long! My mom who has Alzehimers lives with us and has been for almost 3 years now. She is in the finally stages of the disease and still hangs in there. She loves to grab the broom and sweep. She does this everyday, and several times a day. I keeps her busy. She will even sweep the counch or the kitchen table if you let her. My oldest daughter is going to be 34 years old this year and hasn't lived at home in 16 years. I spend as must time as I can with her. But it is never enough. She plans on coming home to live and take care of us in 7 years. I cant wait! It's my dream to have her home. She is a dear friend to me and we have a great relationship. she always tells me that I am her best friend.

I love Lighthouses, and I collect them. I added a beautiful homemade lighthouse quilt to my collection in November 2008. A friend of my oldest daughter made it for me, and she did a beautiful job. I will treasure it always.

Slept in

I wasn't feeling well, so I took some medicine before I hit the hay last night, and when I woke up at 8:30 this morning, I started Neil's work clothes in the washing machine, sat at the desk and thought, gee if I get up now, I will just walk upstairs and fall asleep sitting on the couch, so I went back to bed and curled next to Neil and slept until 11am this morning. Woke up to Amy calling me and asking if I was ready to go do our Sunday Food shopping. ahhh NO, give me 20 minutes, she says I will give you 15 minutes and I will be outside honking my horn in 10.

So off I run to my study to grab my jeans that I wore to hockey last night, but on a clean shirt, and even managed to put Neil's work clothes in the dryer, and ran upstairs. Started a fresh pot of coffee, fed Zeus, and Striped Mom's bed, got her dressed, and put a quick breakfast on the table for her, all before I headed out to Amy's car before she started honking.

NO breakfast for me! But I was doing ok, and drinking some cold water while she drove.

We went to JC Penneys' to look for an outfit for her to wear to her siser In Law's wedding coming up, but found none. Then off to Walmart in Pasco to shop for food.

We stopped by McDonalds drive thru to pick up some lunch at 2pm, and headed home.

Manage to put another load of laundry in the washer/and dryer and make mom's bed.

Now here it is dinner is done, Amy fixed Taco Salad's and I am home. I fixed mom some noodles with sause, apple pie and oranges for dinner.

NOw I am just waiting for mom to finish eating, and then I am going to head downstairs to do some more laundry. I have a few baskets to put away and another one to fold. I seem to be really good at keeping my new washer and dryer busy. I sure do love these front load stacking sets they sell now days! Makes me wonder what I ever did without therm!

Tomorrow I start my new work schedule. No more money, just more hours. I start at 8:30am and don't finish until 7pm, Monday thru Friday, now how is that fair?
