They're also taught not to cross their hands over the wheel when making a turn. This is all due to the air bag in the steering wheel - in an accident, if you have your hands lower on the wheel you're less likely to end up with a broken arm if you assume the new position. I was taught the old 10-and-2 routine and am finding it very hard to make the switch. It's also supposedly less stressful on your arms to hold them lower, but I'm finding that it strains my wrists and hands (I have carpal tunnel in both hands - surgically corrected in my right, but increasingly painful in my left).
Caitlin and I went to a Whole Foods store today to stock up on organic fruits for her and other vegetarian foods. I was surprised by: 1. How much of the produce was not organic (more than 50%). 2. How big the store was and how many products they had. 3. How good the meats looked. No purchases this time, unless you count the small packet of smoked salmon. 4. How much it cost ($100 for 4 bags of food!). Being a vegetarian doesn't come cheap. Books: Finished The Song Reader. It took a lot of words and a long time to get through a few revelations that were murky and relatively meaningless. The concept of using songs that people hear in their heads to analyze their lives was explored in only a very limited way. Two of the characters each had some form of mental illness, although neither was well-explained. Not the glowing first novel I had expected from the reviews. Movies: Cecil B. Demented. The only good thing about this movie was watching Maggie Gyllenhaal as a Satan-worshipping Goth-clown. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
