I ventured out the mall today to look at some furniture in my quest for a family room sofa. I wandered into the furniture department of one of the big stores and was idly looking at sofas and such. Only the "and such" this time was something entirely unexpected, although not without a sense of holiday good cheer. I rounded a corner to a secluded bedroom set and what to my wondering eyes should appear? Well, it wasn't a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer. Two teenagers, on the bed, engaged in an activity that is typically not undertaken in a department store during the holiday shopping season. They quickly pulled themselves together, but didn't even have the decency to straighten the bed. Sadly, this is the only thing that offended me about their behavior.

I went on my way and continued to meander through the chairs and tables and sofas, when who should I run into again, but the same couple, rumpling a different bed. They must have thought that I was following them. I found a sofa I liked and when I stepped into the adjoining roomlet to see how it looked from a distance, I startled them for a third and final time. This time the girl was seated on a couch and had to hastily retrieve her jeans from around her ankles and the boy rose from his kneeling position with equal speed. I was tempted to remind them that they would be hard-pressed to explain to their parents why they were permanently banned from Strawbridge's due to having sex in public. Maybe they were just a piece of performance art, so to speak.
