2007-04-08 11:17 PM Quick Quick Before The Bunnies are Gone! Read/Post Comments (0) |
In the last several years, I’ve come to refer to April as “National Bunny Month”. Most of you know of my liking of cute fluffy things and once the ramp-up to Easter starts, I’m just soooooooo happy heading into stores and finding cute little bunny toys. Mostly bunnies. I’m not picky mind you, cute little duckies work ok too, but bunnies are the main focus.
Since Easter came early this year, pooh, National Bunny Month is pretty much over. But there was a lot of good stuff. Okay, a lot of amazingly silly stuff. From unexpected sources at times. On this week’s “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me” P J O’Rourke (scuze me here but the man I think of as “the world’s only funny Republican” at least deliberately) was pretty damn funny. There had been a story about attempts to bring rabbits into North Korea as a food source, which attempt apparently failed, but never mind that now (don't ask. really.) O’Rourke decided however, that during the “lightning round” that if he didn’t know the answer he’d use “Giant Herds of Bunnies”. Much the way as I remember Howard used to use “Mel Ott” on any “Trivial Pursuit” question he didn’t know. Say it with me now "Giant Herds of BUNNNies!" And then there's the peeps. The Seattle Times’ annual peep art contest is in. I admit that one of our favorites this year came simply because how can you not like SAYING “Greenpeeps”? In fact, when i came home from the store to tell Stu they had a new color - "Stu there are green peeps" of course the first thing he said was "A fine organization, i support them in their work." But keep going cuz you gotta see "Peepiary". I KNEW there was a reason they decided to make peeps in GREEN this year! There is NO WAY to offer all the fine Peep Sites on the internet – what god truly intended the net for – but just well you just have to see a few of these in the Times. Last year we had Peep Benedict and Brokepeep Mountain. Today? There's just something I adore the iPeeps entry.http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/living/2003653399_peeps08.html For a brilliant reenactment of great moments in rock as reenacted by peeps http://www.rhino.com/fun/trunk/peeps/index.lasso The one I won’t get but you will http://www.lordofthepeeps.com/ (don’t miss the shop and the action figures) A fabulous article on peeps and library research offered by the Office of Fluffy Research at the Staley Library at Millikin University in Illinois (no I never heard of it either but I believe they're just waiting for me - no one's done more fluffy research than moi, dammit! (though I would agree with one correspondent regarding issues of privacy in the library) http://www.millikin.edu/staley/peeps/ Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
