Well, it's probably not a compression fracture in my spine. Or a rib fracture.
it's probably just a serious muscle strain/sprain/thingy associated with having severe scoliosis (that's spinal curvature for those who don't live for medical terminology). It started Monday and got a lot nastier Wed night whilst watching the PBS showing of "Cyrano de Bergerac" with Kevin Kline. I'm thinking it got worse out of frustration that despite the brilliance of Kline - one of our best actors, a man who can do anything and do it well - this was, for me, not a very good performance. Everyone else seemed far too "Actorly" far too "Mater Thespian", declaiming rather than saying. And dammit, I still don't get Cyrano's love for Roxane, who still seems shallow and dim (I know, I know, think of the times) or her love for um, what's his name, Boy Cutie. No of course it has nothing to do with that, but it was during that that i bent over and suddenly could not sit back up. Leading me to spend yesterday afternoon in medical offices getting diagnosed and tested. Sort of. It hurts when I laugh, cough or sneeze. Or take a deep breath. Happily, I could turn last night to get comfy and got something like 12 hours' sleep. But reaching for stuff sort of sucks and given that I'm on a comfy dose of Oxycontin, and it's getting through all that, well, crap. I'm guessing we aren't going to get through Project Put The Books On the Shelves on Sunday. Because I won't let Stu do it alone. We are (goddamit) going to see "Milk" this weekend. I hope I hope I hope. Damn, I do wish they'd go to "general release" for this movie, since it's still only a 1 Seattle theater, but I've just run out of patience. So do you know what I mean about "actorly" performances? I mean, jeeeezus, Kline seemed so natural and right and believable. Everyone else seemed to be Emoting. Big Time. Just in case they could not be heard in the 5th row. Dang. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
