I may be wrong in feeling this way, but I think it is actually kind of wrong to run out to the DC Metro with a camera and do a package on commuter reaction to increased security in light of the London terrorist attack...with the sole purpose of beefing up a resume tape.

It's not to air, no station wants it. Your news director is using feed footage for a measley VOSOT.

But it looks all sparkly on your permanent record. No mind to the fact that you've taken a camera away from another reporter who may have a story more interesting and relevant to their viewing audience.

But let's take advantage of a horrible (and remote) situation to advance our careers! Perhaps that will make the news director pense un po' before throwing your tape in the pile of "heck no's."
