Buffalo Gal
Judi Griggs

I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. Tell me this ain't discipline

The new Dollar Store is opening on the mainland today, but here I sit tethered to the computer.
(For the more urbane among you, this is geographically equivalent to the biggest sale of the year at Filene's basement).
Missing the opening is a necessary sacrifice as an artist and writer (especially one who fears my agent will give up on me if I don't get this manuscript delivered).
Things will gear up on a client project next week and I'll be heading out of town. If I keep my head down and fingers moving across the keyboard, I've got an even shot at tying up the majority of the loose ends floating around me.
That means turning down all but the two already booked lunch appointments.
Answering email only at designated break times.
Ignoring the phone.
Avoiding internet backgammon.
And writing very short blogs.
One out of five is a start.
