Buffalo Gal Judi Griggs I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. 2004-09-07 10:14 AM Instant gratification for $1.49 It's grocery day, the day I return home a beloved queen and cherished icon.
Three members of the household know that in one of the bags lay a package for them and they will adore me completely to get it. Even the otherwise aloof one trips over the others to be my best friend ever in the world. As soon as the package is open, I literally have them eating out of my hand. It's amazing what a bag of Whiskas tuna treats can do. Overdue manuscripts? Underworked gym routines? Pshaw. I am a Goddess with the most supplicant of subjects. They worship only me and would protect me from any enemy -- foreign, domestic or rodent. The actual sharing is a zen process of velvet paws and lapping tongues. They gently finesse each other for position around my palm. They instinctively know that claws, teeth or bad attitudes will halt the gravy train. Being sweet will get me to open the bag, being ridiculously affectionate will get me to empty it. They've elevated the latter to an art. I know their game. And love every self-serving second. I've started stashing a second bag in my bed stand. Little Bit stops by each night at bed time to a quick snack before he settles in to purr and sleep at my side. Older men have been gifting Cute Young Things to convince them to sleep with them for years. This works for me.
