Buffalo Gal Judi Griggs I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. 2004-10-07 2:50 PM Sex, religion and politics I just got another copy of the email they say will go to "25 million Christians by Election Day." By the number of times it has appeared in my mailbox in the last week, I have to guess they actually meant "Five million times to five different Christians by Election Day."
I have gotten 27 copies thus far. But folks,I promise I will not change my mind with the 28th. In case you haven't yet had the "honor", this particular email clearly identifies Kerry as Satan opposed to all things good and true, with the role of God apparently cast in cowboy boots. Distorted contrary views on partial birth abortion, school prayer and my very favorite, gay marriage are NOT going to put this country to hell in a handbasket. Take a look folks, we're already there. The abortion that concerns me most is Iraq where misinformation and misdirection have mired our troops in an unwinnable quagmire with no end plan in sight. The prayers that matter to me, are coming from our dying cities socked with the export of jobs that once made them vital. Our communities have no prospects, yet big businesses rack up record profitability through deregulation. If keeping "under God" in the pledge could bring back skilled jobs with living wages, I'd be shouting it from the rooftops. The marriage that concerns me most is between the White House and big oil. Mom and Dad may be delighted with their relationship, but we kids are getting our butts kicked every day. So please my good Republicans friends, feel free to make religion, sex and politics one interchangable issue in your own minds. But remember what your Grandma taught you about bringing up any of them at the dinner table. Copyright 2004 Judi Griggs Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
