Buffalo Gal Judi Griggs I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. 2004-10-12 5:35 PM Which would you prefer first? Insult or injury? As regular readers of this space know they sprung the news on my husband Friday that Immigration Customs Enforcement had no training money in the new Homeland Security budget that came before Congress this weekend. His contract may have been until Jan 06, but his job was finished. No students. No instructors.
It was a travesty. Absolutely tragic. They said. They had no warning. They said. They was no sensible explanation. They Said. Sadly and unexpectedly, sigh pause, the next duty day (Tuesday) will be your last day. So they gave him his separation (nothing personal, it's not you, it's your job that's toast)letter... and an engraved plaque thanking him for his service... Dated with today's date. A reasonable trade for a $93,000 a year job without notice or severance of any kind. Imagine what they would have been able to do if they had warning...
