Buffalo Gal
Judi Griggs

I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. Purple people

I left my Red State home right after the election unsure of whether I'd ever be able to turn my car back that way. I was sure my family would eventually come to join me in the land of the Blue.
Pre-election expectations hit the rocks with my mood and hope for our collective future. I clung tightly to Air America invective and internet essays on the evil of the other side for the first several days.
After 11 days of beautiful blue landscape, I crossed the line from Pennsylvania to West Virginia just a few hours ago. I checked into a hotel in a county that went heavily for "the other side."
The hotel is clean and pleasant. The staff very friendly. Just like they were before the election.
After another eight hours on the road I'll be deep in the Red , with my husband, daughter, dog and cats -- and it will be great.
The red and blue are blurring together in the focus on the other things that matter.
The number of war casualties this week is horrendous, even more so for how avoidable they should have been.
But there is no state that unilaterally made one choice, it's simply a question of shades of purple.
There is an important congressional race that will be gearing up in just a year. The past and current administration certainly had plenty to do with the complications in my life today, but it's up to me to find the solutions that work for us... and see what I can do about the rest. I'll definately be heading for to Canada, but it wil be for Chinese food and duty-free booze after we get settled living in Buffalo.
Staying mad won't change anything.
And there's simply too much to do.
