Buffalo Gal Judi Griggs I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. 2005-03-01 8:11 AM Cinnamon raisin toast There are eight inches of snow on the ground and before 8 a.m. I had already exchanged bad news emails with my boss and tax accountant. Last night I found out our house was the second choice of a family who had been looking in earnest. I have 27 cents in loose change until payday tomorrow... and since I work for a non-profit substantially impacted by the county budget crisis, the phrase "payday" is flexible at best.
In two weeks, Charlie and I will celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary -- 1,000 miles apart. But they had Pepperidge Farm Cinniamon Swirl bread on sale at the neighborhood 24-hour Walgreens last night and I had butter in the mini-fridge. Everything in my room smells like cinnamon toast. The room is temporarily warm, safe and spectacular. I'm thinking of dropping another couple slices in the toaster just for effect. I know it will be over the minute I open the door. I think I'll have another cup of tea. Copyright 2005 Judi Griggs Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
