I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. Sixty-nine cent sale at the dollar store

Too much time and not enough money has made me quite the crafty girl this winter. After not doing much knitting or crocheting since I was a child, I've become a scarf, sweater, afghan, blanket machine-- saving fabric store coupons and stocking up on yarn every pay day.
It's the perfect solution for one who can't simply sit and watch TV when the weather and finances are too severe to go anywhere.
The latest project is fuzzy flip-flops using "fun fur" yarn and a crochet hook to make simple flip-flops look like something Zsa Zsa might wear. I have "orders" (they provide color and size, I deliver the goods) from my sister-in-law, nieces and both daughters.
In my flip-flop quest I came upon a phenomena unique to Buffalo... a 69 cent sale at the Dollar Store. Everything in the place was 69 cents. Just when you thought that $1 was the gold standard for cheap incense, candles and household products... this new bargain buffett is set before me. I bought six pair of flip-flops and got change back from my $5 bill. THIS was a score.
Later I stopped at Target for a couple other "after payday" household items unavailable for 69 cents. I passed a display of flip-flops and could not help but notice how much nicer they were than the ones I bought earlier-- better colors, more cushion and sleaker molding.. the Ferragamo of flip-flops.
Sure, they were $2.19 a pair, but I filled my cart to match the earlier size list.
Nothing is too good for family.
