2003-12-30 3:11 PM Statistics...hmm Mood: Contemplative Read/Post Comments (0) |
This won't be as boring as it sounds...promise. The stats I'm refering to are those of out of work actors. Yes...here she goes again. As it's the end of the year, the breakdown (to use an industry term) of out of work SAG / AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild / American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, respectively) actors in 2003 due to reality television is 25%. So, out of 118,000 members of the unions... 29,500 actors were out of work. In playing devils advocate with myself for a moment, I realize SOME reality tv is giving people a chance they wouldn't normally have to pursue certain dreams and I'm all about that...but that's why we have Oprah, people. Not to sound too pretentious (even though I will anyway)...Leave the airtime to the professionals.
On a personal note, my best gal pal in the world, Ryan came into town yesterday and we've already begun to paint the town fushia. We're going to see a show tonight and then hitting the gay bar! For him, not me...except for maybe for a boost...they always tell me I'm pretty. (lol)- Threw that in just for Ryan. I never use computer lingo. My brother's coming into town tomorrow!!! Snickers and I are going to have a house full. As he wrote in his journal today, I have lots planned. Sleep is not in that plan. Jason and I are going to see "The Caretaker" with my ultra soulmate, Patrick Stewart (okay so I just sounded like I was 10). Between him and Ryan, I haven't seen this much Broadway in the last year! Oh, let me briefly tell you that over Xmas I saw both "Mona Lisa Smile" and "Seabiscuit". "Mona Lisa Smile" is worth seeing in the theaters. They casted mainly out of New York...much of the acting left a lot to be desired. (Yes...here I go again). I like Julia Roberts...this was absolutely not her best work. As soon as I could snore past Kirsten Dunst and Julia Smiles, the people that were the most engaging in the film were Maggie Gyllenhaal (Adaptation) and Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River). They were unbelievable. It was a great story to be told. As well, "Seabiscuit" was unbelievable! I always find the animals both in movies and stage pieces are so interesting to watch. It was great to see Tobey Maguire in this part. He really took to the role. I think I'm finally starting to dig myself out of my hole so you guys should be hearing from me more often. Expect a review tomorrow of either "Avenue Q" or "Rent"...depending what Ryan and I get better tickets for tonight. xoxoxoxooxoxooxox Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
