2004-04-26 10:07 AM nope, the third time isn't the charm Well, Lordy, for the third time in two weeks, being sure to hit all three shifts, I once again found myself in the er this morning. This time for the boy. He went to the skatepark yesterday and the stubborn cuss didn't wear his elbow pads and he crashed pretty hard on his arm.
It was swollen and we iced it down, but since he had some movement we were trying to decide if we should take him to the er. He could still move it several different ways, but had some pain when trying to move it a couple of other ways. I decided to air on the side of caution and took him this morning. Yep, that's right, broken elbow. Man. I should consider myself lucky, this is the first time he's ever broken anything. I gave him a high five for his first broken bone. Not bad for fifteen. They couldn't cast it, because it is his elbow, so they just sent him home with pain pills and a sling. I have to take him in a week to an orthopedic doctor to make sure it's healing right. Don't know how that will work, since we don't have any insurance, and specialists are particularly particular about getting their money up front. I guess I'll just have to call and see what we can do about it. The hospital filled out some sort of charity form. She said someone might come in and talk to me about it, but they never did. But hopefully it means they'll either drastically cut the bill, or just write it off. ugh! Healthcare in America sucks. Gee, have I said that before?
