the long and winding week

well, the week really hasn't been that long. they go pretty quickly for me.

see my poochie? that's sergei zackovich. poor baby, he's always on the inside looking out. husky's only live 8-10 years, and factor in the fact that their lives are shortened when they're fed people food(he's had more than his fare share of people food, everything from crackers to ice cream to steak), he's just about on his last legs, because he turns 8 in may.

we've had a disturbing development with him. a few weeks back, as mark and i were in the kitchen making individual cheese cakes, sergei all of a sudden went into a seizure. it wasn't as loud or violent as the ones yasha used to have, but it lasted a whole lot longer. also unfortunately, sergei has a neopolian complex (he's an insecure, cranky bastard) so he can't be trusted to be touched. we're too afraid that in his fugue state, he'll snap our fingers off. we just don't know what caused it or why.

so we pushed the incident to the back of our heads...until yesterday when he once again had a seizure. having been here before, we know the eventual outcome, so we're trying to enjoy our time with him as much as we can.

on the homefront, last night i asked mark if i was "crazy, like i wanted to be tied down, or crazy, like i needed to be tied down." he answered yes. so i guess that settles that, i'm just crazy.

ok, well, i thought that was just the best line...it was the only redeemable thing in the new sit-com, four kings. really, that show sucked, and if nbc is hoping it will be the next "friends" or "seinfeld" in their thurs night line-up, they're very far off the mark.

yesterday morning, as i took mark to work, he (playfully) suggested we just drive. i told him not to tease me, because i'd be all for filling up the hoopty and heading for the mountains. it pisses me off that the mountains are only two hours away, yet we never go. likewise with the beach. only because of the way the highways run around here, it's a two hour distance that takes four hours to drive. maybe soon we can manage a trip to the mountains. *fingers crossed*

anyway, it bummed me out and i started to feel very restless. i hate that feeling. it depresses me and makes me feel helpless to change anything.

all righty then, let's talk some football. our mayor, pat mc cory, made a bet with seattle's mayor, as he usually does when it gets this far into the playoffs. if charlotte wins, he gets fried chicken from one of seattle's oldest restaurants, and a pound of coffee. if seattle wins, he mc cory sends bojangle's chicken, a south eastern chain, like kfc, only spicier, and a gallon of swate tay. did you get that? swate tay, that's how we say it around here, but for those of you who don't speak southern, that's sweet tea. the losing mayor must also wear the winning team's jersey at a national mayors' conference. mc cory wanted to up the antee and rename, for a day, one street in the losing city after the winning mayor's team. the seattle mayor didn't go for that. sounds like someone isn't feeling so confident in his team's ability.

i can't believe i'm getting so excited about this. but it is so cool living in a city with a pro team. what can i say?

hey, did you hear about the doctor who's a big broncos' fan? he wants tickets to the game this weekend. in exchange, he's offering a free, full-service vasectomy to anyone who'll give him tickets. yeah, i know there's lots of guys out there ready to jump on that wagon.

on a final note, the weather is driving me crazy. the old saying goes, "if you don't like the weather in the south, just wait a few minutes and it'll change." in the month of dec, we were 6 degrees below normal(it was cold). however, in the month of jan, we're 6 degrees above normal(it's frickin hot). my sinuses are screaming. i wish it would make up its damn mind. stupid mother nature!

ya'll have a great weekend. i'm gonna try, under the circumstances.
