2008-02-05 8:59 PM ugh, just ugh *sigh* come thurs morning the z-man and i will be wheeling the big brown machine to charlotte. i'm so not looking forward to it. on the one hand, there are things that need to be picked up, taken care of, gotten over with, handled...on the other hand, it will not be pleasant or pretty.
however, in keeping with my keeping positive (i'm strangling phrases here folks...because i can), here are the torn and rumpled shards of my aluminum lining: 1. z-man and i always have fun on roadtrips. it's our "bonding time" 2. thursday night, i will be enjoying one of my favorite fares that i can only find in charlotte...a big fat cheesesteak hoagie (hold the oregano) at philly connection (yeah, baby!) 3a & 3b. thursday night, and friday night too, i will be soaking in the hottest bath i can tolerate (that's pretty hot)...because of pathetically low water pressure here i haven't had a good soak in two months and i'm dying. (and yes, i will be placing yet another washcloth over any and all strange looking vents in the hotel bathroom)i might even pick up a nice bottle of bubble bath for added luxury. 4. friday night, z-man and i (and yeah, probably the iceback too) will be enjoying a damn fine tasty mexican meal at our very much missed fiesta maya (oh my oh my, what to have, what to have? pollo nortano or the monterrey cheesesteak burrito?) 5. getting to see my very much missed mexican friends who work at fiesta maya (the hag is missing her fags) 6. getting to see my very much missed puppie-wuppie dog, sergei-wergei (oh my god, he's gonna be soooooooo excited to see us! someone might accidentally get hurt) 7. fingers-crossed, replenishing my herbal medicine 8. maybe seeing an old friend or two 9. hopefully, on the way back, capping off the whole trip with a detour into charleston. i mean really, ya'll, how can i claim to be the tarnished southern bell i am without ever having been to charleston? and...drumroll please...10. not having to drive 45 mph pulling a squirrelly trailer while dodging pissed off 18 wheelers on a dark busy interstate wish me godspeed and good luck...i'm gonna need it. the pic up top is a lovely little white (presbyterian, i think) church here in green cove springs. notice they have their own dock out back...while it's not the same denomination, it reminds me of both the little country church my dad was assistant pastor of in mustang, okla and even tho much newer, cleaner and not leaning to one side, the mission church he preached at in moffitt, okla. the only thing missing was the smell of honeysuckle wafting through the air. ;-) Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
