2008-02-10 11:07 AM back from the dead well, i'm back...
i tell you, that old brown boat is quite reliable. i mean really, who needs power windows, cruise control and a built-in cd player. i have betsy lou. i know i've given this little speech before but i hate driving interstates (well, state highways too) people are arrrrrghhhhh....they drive in the fast lane, whether they are going fast or not. i try not to do much more than 5 mph over the speed limit, but if a convoy of cars are behind me and we're all trying to get past that 18 wheeler, then you'd better believe, i will push up so ALL of us can get by. on the way there tho, in georgia, about 30 miles from the south carolina border, every available po-po was out in force. every exit had one on each side with at least one car pulled over, if not more. it was a regular georgia blitzkrieg. and lets not even talk about the road contstruction...40 miles of lane shifts...i hate those concrete barriers... it was a bittersweet trip, to be sure...but the boy got to hang with his friends, i got my pollo nortano (more than i've eaten in one setting in a long long time and i ended up paying for it all night long) one of z's friends had dinner with us. and we all sit down in the booth. ruben had already greeted us at the door and gave me a hug. after rosa came over and gave me a big hug, z's friend, troy asked "have you guys been here before" to which the three of us started laughing "no, it's are first time" and yet person after person kept coming over to say hello and give me hugs. it was a riot. we all laughed so hard. i did get my baths...in the mini-tub...not nearly as big as a regular one, but hey, who am i to complain, a lot better than mine at home. i did get my philly connection, and for the first time ever, i couldn't eat the whole thing. wow! i even managed a turkey wrap from jason's deli...love that place...they have one in orlando and when z and i go down there to visit full sail, we will be going. i did get to see my poodie-dog. oh man...got some pics and even some on my phone...yay. i'm so sick of driving...today i'm doing nothing except maybe a trip to the store (yeah, ok, i need my monster and more yogurt and fruit) but other than that...my ass ain't moving and i ain't doing a damn thing. chill chill. the pic uptop is the public pier within walking distance of my house. later in the week i'll post a pic from the apartment property of those sailboats from a different angle. when i go to the grocery store across the street, this is the view as i come out. while i probably won't ever walk there, but it is a nice place just to go, stand, feel the river's breeze, see pretty boats and do a little thinking. hope ya'll had good ones! (no, i didn't make it to charleston, but savannah is only about three hours a way, so i might make that a day trip sometime) ;-) Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
