2008-10-13 11:42 AM These are the moments that made it all worth it I received a lovely email last night from Paul Bens. Paul had submitted a story to Chick Flicks and Stacy and I published it.
Paul has just sold his first book, Kelland. His email was a thank you, a thank you for taking a chance on an undiscovered, new writer. That was Stacy and I's mission statement with the publication. We wanted to give writers a chance, a chance that no one else would. For all the work and nastiness from rejected authors we had to endure, the thank yous, such as Paul's, make it all worthwhile. Will I ever try it again? Probably not. Not without a larger staff, for sure. It was a lot of work. But when I get a thank you such as Paul's, giving me credit where it's probably not totally due (I mean, he's the one that wrote it) it makes me miss the experience a bit, makes me sentimental, and it especially makes me proud of the work Stacy and I did.
