2010-03-20 9:50 AM even more adventures in bus riding thursday z decided he wanted a new video game, plus his mouse crapped out a few weeks ago so we needed to get him a new one.
we take the bus to the mall. to go to the mall, we have to take the #9 beach trolley to the(highway) 520 exchange, and wait 15 mins for the #4 connector which literally drops you off at one of the mall entrances. he really lucked out. he sold (traded) some of his games to go toward the price of the new game he wanted. we were both expecting he'd probably only get about 10-15 bucks for his trade ins and were pleasantly surprised when eb games gave him $35, leaving him to only pay $25 for the new game he wanted. then we headed on down to radio shack and picked up a new mouse. the whole thing only took about 20 mins. but i pulled an iceback and told him i wanted to stop in one of the mall restaurants and have a beer before heading home. knowing what a sucker his is for appetizers, namely mozzarella sticks, we got an appetizer sampler of mozzarella sticks, southwestern spring rolls, chicken strips and wings. it also happened to be happy hour so when i ordered my $3 draft beer, they brought me 2 of them (2 for one or buy one get one free) Oye vey! so we enjoy our sampler, i struggled through drinking two beers and after about an hour, we go to catch the bus back home. now i've ridden the bus lots of times but had no idea that after 6 or 7 o'clock, they only run one #9 bus instead of two. this means that instead of a bus coming every 30 mins, it now comes only once an hour. long story short (it's probably too late for that, eh?) we decide instead of waiting an hour for the next bus and not wanting to ride the whole frickin' route (which would also take an hour,) that we'd just walk home from 520...all 4 miles of it. it's all good though because i got to spend some quality time with my boy. he had no complaints for the very same reason. i don't know why but when z and i are in transit we have the best conversations. that's our time to shut out the rest of the world with no distractions and just talk. it's always been that way since he was a little kid. and you know what? we got home before the bus made its way back to where we live. when we did finally get home, my neighbor, dorothy, had a nice big plate of stuffed shells waiting for us. yummy!
