2004-08-20 9:06 AM Straws & Water!!! Read/Post Comments (2) |
When LB turned 1, we agreed that his day care provider would work on LB using a sippy cup and I would work on LB using a regular cup. Well, apparently, he never took to the sippy, but he drinks out of a regular cup on his own now (as long as it's not too heavy or anything.
I've also been trying to teach him to drink out of a straw. Someone posted a suggestion to use a juice box and to squeeze the box so he'd learn that drinkable stuff comes out of the straw. I thought, what the heck, might as well give it a try. So, yesterday we gave it a try and lo and behold, it worked. He figured out that THAT straw gave him something to drink. Then we tried a real straw in his milk at dinner. He preferred to drink straight from the cup, but did drink through the straw a little bit. Now I can start using that straw sippy type cup that I bought a few months ago. YAY!! On Tuesday we went out to Redlands to visit Karen. We had a fun time. We went to the YMCA to swim and they had a great setup. They had their teaching pool which has a whole side that is walk in, much like a beach. So LB could play in that area without too much fear. He did and he even fell down a couple of times where the water was deep enough that he went under. The first time I was worried, but when I pulled him up, he didn't come up sputtering or anything, I was impressed. I'm starting to think that he can do more underwater stuff at swim class, I just have to relax about it a bit. COOL! Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
