Today, I took LB to day care after breakfast instead of before. So when he arrived there wasn't food waiting for him. The past few weeks, I thought his separation anxiety was gone as when he got to day care he happily kissed me goodbye and waved without tears. Today was a bit different, there was no waiting food and therefore he was unhappy that I was leaving. Sigh. Well on Monday, we go back on early schedule and hopefully that'll settle him down again.

He's starting to pretend. He likes to pretend that he's going to bed. He'll say "ni ni" and then lie down and put his head on the floor or pillow, but as little kids do, he doesn't close his eyes, just stares at us as he lies there. Tonight after his bath, and peeing on his futon in his room (that's what we get for letting him be a little naked boy after bath), he wanted to be put in his crib, then wanted the side up, then down then up then down, at which point Phil got tired of it and just took him out.

Bedtime was still a battle as he doesn't want to go to bed lately. He asks for books and books and more books. It's tough because I want to support his love of books, but just not for hours on end at bedtime. We've started to ask him to choose 5 books to read before bed, so he knows there's a limit, but still he asks for more when he's done. I count off books and tell him how many are left after each one and say many many times that the last one is the last one, still he fights it. He cries when we put him into bed. It only lasts about 30 seconds, but still it tears me up every time he does it.

Last night, after not eating much for dinner, he awoke with a screech at about 12:30. He wanted milk so we went to get milk and he wanted food too, whatever food he could get me to give him-he ate both crackers and cheese. I imagine he'll sleep better tonight.

He's making good progress in swimming. He doesn't want to do the "laps" we do in class. He likes moving along the wall using his hands to "walk" along it. His favorite thing is to go from the table-where he can stand and the water's up to his belly or so- to the wall by stepping off of the table. We've decided to continue swim classes into the fall, we'll see how they go and how cold it gets.

LB also said his first sentence that I can remember. When I picked him up from day care yesterday he looked at me and clearly said, "Go, car, daddy." Too cute.

I also think his bottom eye teeth are coming in, and he's kind of uncomfortable because of it, but he's not grumpy anyway-he just doesn't get grumpy.

About a week ago Jim took some pictures of LB and he got some very nice ones, I'll put them up in the 18 month favorites. We'll probably reprint some of them as well.

OK this one's gone on long enough, time to finish it up.
