LB got his first experience with our cactus. Up until now, he'd shown little interest and pretty much heeded our warnings. Last week, he decided to touch one instead. Now, we have a decent variety of cactus in the yard. He could have chosen any one other than the one he chose and it would have been better. He chose the rabbit's foot cactus, the one with many tiny spines in it. Sigh. Phil pulled as many out as he could, and LB seems unbothered by it. I wasn't there when it happened and don't even know where on his hand it is/was.

On Wed. last week Phil and I went with friends to an early movie. Early enough that the babysitters got to put LB to bed, including putting on his diaper etc... Boy, was that a mess, the diaper. Good thing he lives through a terribly applied diaper!! It was mostly funny. But anyway. Thursday morning when I went in to get him up, he saw me and said in his happy sounding voice, "You're back, mommy." It was just so amazingly cute. Nice that he noticed that mommy and daddy did in fact come back. I was a bit surprised by it too, didn't expect him to really take that much notice that we weren't there when he went to sleep.

LB is learning about biting, but in a good way. We occasionally, "nibble" on him, so we thought it only fair to teach him how to nibble on us. The key to this whole thing is being gentle. And he totally gets it-lucky for us. He will ask to nibble on our finger and we'll let him and it's always a nice gentle nibble, no biting. He's also been told that it's only OK to bite mommy and daddy. Don't want the poor boy getting in trouble by biting someone else's kid somewhere, even gently.

Last night, he asked what was in his belly, or that's what I though he was asking. I think he really meant his belly button. He had drunk a BUNCH of milk at dinner and had some when we got home too, so I told him that his belly was full of milk. This morning he pointed to his belly button and asked where the milk was. Oops. So we had the internal/external discussion.
