All it takes is a phone call

Mood:
Elated

One phone call sent me winging into the ether tonight. My agent left me a message, which I didn't get until I was leaving work tonight at about 6:00. (This turns out to be a good thing.) He was on his way out, so I spoke very briefly with him, however he called to say that Trilogy liked my fantasy pilot, and had notes on some aspects of the script. Fred had to run, I was on my way home for an evening out, so he'll call me tomorrow.

Zowie.

I said to him: "This is good."
Fred: "Yes."
"This is very good."
"Yes."

It is very good. She liked the pilot. She liked it enough to call Fred with some notes on different aspects of the script. She liked it enough that Fred is going to call me this weekend to talk about her notes. I will then take the opportunity on Monday to call Trilogy and speak with this executive (did I mention she was an exec!?!?) about the script. Now, she's read other specs of mine, and didn't care for them and said so with no fanfare. So, this is very good.

My goal on Monday is to get her to agree to read the series bible -- essentially a "who's who and what's what" of the series I've created. That's it for Monday. Just get her to read the bible. Coax her into taking another step down the road that could eventually lead to the series finding its way onto network (more likely cable) television.

I am more thrilled than I ever imagined. I'm indulging in the time between now and when I talk with Fred and reality strikes to dream, and dream big. Trilogy buying the series. Making the series. Being a showrunner. Being able to get my writer friends read and maybe even hired. Having this 4-year story truly come to life. Making a living off of writing.

Reality will come a-visiting soon enough. For now, I'll indulge in the dreaming.
