2003-01-15 11:59 PM Class #2 Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Coffee? Coffee? At tonight's class, we had three guests -- all graduates of Marc & Elaine's program, and all three successfully working. One actor, and two writer/directors. It was good to listen to their stories, knowing that they applied the skills and techniques that we're learning, and they succeeded.
With our guests, we talked about our goal, and what we think our major obstacle is to reaching that goal. We saw perhaps too many demo reels and we didn't get out until 11:30 pm. I was last, so got a bit on the short time end, but that was with the promise that I'm going first next time (joy) and will get the benefit of not rushing anything. However, I got enough guidance to lead me to this week's homework: -- Make a list of all shows I want to contact/work on -- Make a better list of all the people I've seen speak at any place whatsoever -- Make a list of what makes me an interesting person to hang out with Please can I adapt War and Peace instead? It'll be easier for me than trying to figure out that last element. I'm really quite capable of analyzing what I feel and why, or how I react to something and why, but not what makes me the other side of dull to sit in a room with. However, that's my obstacle and I have a plan to break it down. I'm going to be contacting a few of my friends (you're warned!) and ask them to give me two reasons why they hang with me. I'll take that list and start to work on a pitch about me. Not about my work, although that's part of what I'll accomplish over the next few weeks. When I call a company, I should be able to say here's my script and here's why you'll want to hire me. And the guy or gal on the other end will believe me. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
