Mood:
Hopeful

I met with John today about the scripts he has and wants to produce. These are low-budget features, one written by an experienced writer and one co-written by John. This second one is what we came to discuss, since the first was tight, polished and ready to go. He gave it to me when we met last month over lunch.

John's script is a fine idea, and there's plenty to work with, but it could be better. He'd originally given it to me with the admission that he didn't know what to do with one of the female leads.

I read the script, let the problems mull over in my brain and made lots of notes. We talked for two hours today about the script, tossed around various ideas and found that our sensibilities about the material match quite well.

So well, in fact, that John asked me that when he gets the funding, would I be interested in doing the rewrite?

Let me think about that for a nanosecond.

He also asked me if I would act as script supervisor when production commences. I did have to think about that one for a little longer, but also said yes. I'm not exactly sure what a script supervisor does, but if it involves scripts and supervising I'm pretty sure I can do a decent job at it.

Now, all I have to do is wait for John to get the money. He wants to shoot in June for 5 weeks. Therefore, if it goes, it will probably go quickly.

Still and all, I'm not celebrating until the check clears the bank. :-)
