Seeking contact
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

Ken suggested to me last night that I make my goal one "conversation" a day instead of one phone call. In that spirit, I made a call to Imagine, and actually spoke with a real person -- the exec's assistant. He has my number now, but based on our conversation I must be the utmost in charming and non-scary if I'm going to get a "please send the script" from them. You can really tell, after only a few moments, what companies have staff who would rather sit in a tree for days than talk to writers.

I'm not offended. There's probably a very good reason that they're like that.

So, continuing my quest, I thought of researching who produced Memphis Belle and trying to contact them. I got distracted along the way by Memphis Belle's director, Michael Caton-Jones. He's done many films that I enjoyed, including Doc Hollywood and Rob Roy. (He also did the Jackal, but hey, nobody's perfect.)

Further research led to finding Mr. Caton-Jones' agent (Endeavor). Another phone call to a friend resulted in her saying "let me see what I can do" as she really wants to help me out.

So, if you happen to know Michael Caton-Jones, I'd love to get in touch with him for FORK-TAILED DEVIL. In the very least, I'll call Jo-Ann or call the agency myself and see if I can't get to him one way or another. On Monday, I'll also call John just to see if he might know him, or suggest a good way to contact him. It'd be so much better to go straight to Mr. Caton-Jones instead of through the agent.
