2005-07-29 8:39 AM Long-delayed update Previous Entry :: Next Entry Staffing season's over, vacation came and went, and apparently so did July!
We had a meeting with our managers a couple of weeks ago. They're still terribly optimistic -- they've laid the groundwork for next season regarding the quality of our writing, and darn if it's not hard to resist their optimism! We're now working on the next pair of specs, a Cold Case and a Medium. If we get those done with enough time, we might even try another original, since our Main Street pilot was most-requested of our material. Our managers have Main Street out at a couple of production companies as well, for consideration on its own as a pilot. Long, longshot, but cool nonetheless. They also hope to get us more meetings in the fall, so we can at least pitch for a freelance assignment. We tossed our Joan spec at the WB workshop and the Disney fellowship program, so will see how they fare there. Our charge now, aside from writing, is to network more. I went to a breakfast yesterday, and am going to a Writers Guild Foundation workshop on Saturday. In August, I want to attend one or two Toastmasters for Writers events to see what they're about. Jennise and I batted around attending one of the Sherman Oaks Experimental College events, but decided against it. Jennise is also working on reviving the old Breaking the TV Barrier event through Women In Film. On a filmic note, Stephen is going to give me a couple of minor notes on Spacetime, and then see about getting that out at least to Lightstorm. I might have a tie into Silver Pictures, too, so that would be good to explore. I'm trying to nail down what feature spec to do next; my workshop this weekend may help. So, it looks to be a busy, busy year ahead of us! Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
