Ok so I bit the bullet and went car shopping yesterday. I'm much MUCH further in debt now but...

I now have a car that doesn't seem to be eager to kill me. }:>

Red 2001 Ford Escort. cute, economical, 4 doors, about 34 mpg, 4cyl, 1.2liters, AC, cassette stereo (great reception!) and so far rides *Very* smoothly.

There's a tiny idling issue where it runs rough but I'm sure it'll get caught at the next oil change.

This could eventually all go to hell, but so long as it last for the next five years (the life of the loan) I'll be one happy commuter.
