Neil Gaiman is about my favorite writer these days. He is currently down the street from my apartment. The LA Convention Center is less than a ten minute walk away. But the LA Book Expo is only open to educators, (publishing) industry professionals, booksellers and librarians, and ABA members (I don't know what that is). So I can't attend. He'll be speaking this afternoon. }:< *sigh* Maybe I'll pin my hopes on ComiCon and things will work themselves out. I've met him once - though it was in line for his autograph, so maybe "met" is a strong word. Last time I heard him speak The Dream Hunters had just come out and everyone was still trying to get over The Wake. I don't know if there is still talk about a Sandman movie, but on that panel he utterly lambasted the studio. From what he said they were going to utterly rape the story of Morpheus (Oneiros, Lord Shaper, whatever you want to call him) and it sounded fairly horrible. (Dream would be turned into two characters, Morpheus being the prince of good dreams and the antagonist would be the lord of dark or evil dreams; Death would be transformed into some goddess of love.... *blech*) Now I want him to sign my copy of Coraline and ask him about Wolves in the Walls. *sigh* guess I'll have to wait Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
