Enjoying: Jamba Juice - Strawberry Tsunami Life has been rolling along past me as I'm racing up hill. On the good days I can hop on top of the boulders and leap from rock to rock as they roll down and I might even make some ground up the hill. On the bad days I get squished by falling stones.... Metaphore aside something coming up and it bugs me a little bit. The media is gearing itself up for marking the passing of 9/11. That's not the remarkable bit so much as the fact that I think less people celebrated 7/4 with as much gusto this year as last year. Maybe more of them were unemployed, I dunno. But I swear to god, if Saks Fifth Avenue (across the street from where I work) has little American flags and messages in the glass about "never forgetting" when they couldn't be bothered to bust out the red, white and blue for the freaking Fourth of July I'm going to have to restrain myself from smashing their windows. The main thing stopping me, of course, would be the fact that I'd be arrested an called a terrorist. *sigh* we already have one Psycho Patriot Day. I'm happy with it. Politicos give speeches, we roast dead animal flesh, most folks get the day off and then in the evening we blow up the sky. I'm gonna be annoyed if there's a move to make 9/11 a holiday of some kind. If 12/7 isn't worth remembering then.... Except for the fact that the attacks were first thing in the morning (I *woke up* to the news of an airplane crashing into Tower 2), I'd be up for commemorating the way that the Japanese commemorate Hiroshima. The entire nation completely stopping and silence decending everywhere at once. I would like to see that. I would like to be a part of that.
