2005-12-07 11:44 PM ChicagoRev's Advent Hymn for 2005 "Prepare"
(Based on 2nd Isaiah's Messianic promises and the John the Baptist narratives) Tune: TOULON From Babylon, attend your people’s cries. Jerusalem weeps, “O Lord, are you there? In your compassion, hear our mournful sighs!” Comes back your answer, calling all, “Prepare!” “My glory is at hand, deliverance near, I make a Way, my people shall be free, All on the earth shall see with vision clear. This is my Word. I speak and it will be.” Out of Judea, hear the cries once more, “Caesar’s oppressive rule we cannot bear, Where is the God who loved us once before?” Comes John’s prophetic voice, “Repent! Prepare!” “God’s glory is at hand, salvation near, Making a way, the Lord comes now, O see, Look not to heaven for He shall be here, He is the Word made flesh, we shall be free!” From every land, the cries are rising still, Justice is silent, so few seem to care. God tune our Advent hopes to do your will, Come Christ, transform your world, as we “Prepare!” Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
