Marriage is love.

Greetings from Steamy Miami

I'm in Miami for the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses 25th Anniversary Festival. 150 gay, lesbian or mixed choruses have gathered from Europe and North America...5000 souls in all...to sing...to celebrate one another...and to have mojitos.

My chorus sings tomorrow. We are the first chorus to sing in our venue in the entire festival. It's a Chicago tradition to sing first. I love our music. Once we are done, then I can relax and enjoy everything.

It's funny, my Chicago pals are really oppressed by the heat. I don't like it...but deep in my cellular DNA is the Bayou City of the first 36 years of my life...and I'm getting by...two showers a day and a change of clothes for dinner work wonders...

The song that I predict will be a HUGE smash from our set tomorrow is our finale...it's from the musical we did 2 years ago, an original production, written by Bill Larkin and Patrick Sinozich (who own the copyright to what is printed below, so don't steal it. :-))...called 'Promised Land.'

"...
We made it to the promised land.
We made it through a lot of sand.
We found a place of amazing grace,
Where all walk hand in hand.
We've finally overcome our fears,
It took us only 40 years...
But we made it to the promised, made it to the promised,
Made it to the promised land.
...
We made it to the promised land.
So far from any fool's command.
Dear Moses heard the good Lord's word
And now we understand.
That God knows everything that's good.
Like love and brotherhood...
We made it to the Promised land."

Think about the Israelites...
Think about LGBT folks in the Presbyterian Church...
While we haven't crossed over into the Jordan...
This General Assembly is reason to sing...
So, while others may sing the song simply because it's fun...tomorrow I'll sing it in celebration...and hope.

Peace from Miami.
