Marriage is love.

A tiny Rant from Miami: John McCain on Adoption by gay parents.

John McCain on the record in an interview THIS WEEK with the New York Times:

"I think that we’ve proven that both parents are important in the success of a family so, no, I don’t believe in gay adoption."

John McCain's spokesperson today after PFLAG and a number of other organizations provided the uncontested studies that show that McCain is DEAD WRONG on what has been "proven":

"McCain could have been clearer in the interview in stating that his position on gay adoption is that it is a state issue, just as he made it clear in the interview that marriage is a state issue. He was not endorsing any federal legislation. McCain's expressed his personal preference for children to be raised by a mother and a father wherever possible. However, as an adoptive father himself, McCain believes children deserve loving and caring home environments, and he recognizes that there are many abandoned children who have yet to find homes. McCain believes that in those situations that caring parental figures are better for the child than the alternative."

Ummm...."caring parental figures"

So gay adoptive parents aren't parents, they are "parental figures"? What the heck does that mean?

Also, I'd hate to be John McCain at the next cookout at Mary Cheney's house....of course, they didn't adopt...or at least both of them didn't.

But, long story short....What a tool. What an ignorant, pandering tool. What happened to the John McCain who appeared at the memorial service for gay martyr Mark Bingham who died helping to bring down Flight 93 before it could be flown into a Washington building? What happened to the John McCain of 8 years ago who was going to redirect the Republican Party away from the culture wars into governing again?

It's sad, pathetic, and all too predictable.

Shame on him for selling out. Shame on us if we buy it.
